You know that look...the look your kid gives you when they just don't understand why they aren't getting what they want...when they really really want something and just can't quite wait t get it..... Well, that's what this look is.... Tess really really wants someone to throw her rock...she looks at the rock and then at you (me in this instance)....going "Momma please......"

Tess is a great ball of joyous energy for us!

Picture Day

Today Russell had his Senior photos made by Leah Rouse...she took over 200 shots of him today....he is so tired of smiling......at our last stop on the photo journey, I decided to play with a cool camera that my friend Kim loaned me to try out......

These waterbugs caught my eye today......

I was sitting on the bank by a spillway and looked over and saw this culvert opening....It was pretty far away, but doesn't it make an interesting photo.

I also played some at home too....more goat and dog photos than you really wanted to see, I'll bet.

This is Aggie and her twins, Annie and Andy....

This is Andy....he's the only boy goat at the moment...doesn't he look thoughtful.

This is Annie.....

This is Sadie...she has grown so much since she came to live with us....she has huge feet...and the growing is not done by any means.

Obviously, I had a hard time choosing what photos to share today. I had so much fun with this camera. I have a great shot of Tess that I will post in another blog later this week...she deserves her own space.

About a Day

This is my favorite poem...it's by Robert Frost

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay."

I memorized this poem when I read the Ousiders by SE Hinton...way back in Jr. High. I've always loved it. It seems sad, but I think it's interpretation can depend on the person's perspective.... I always think of a crisp fall morning and how it fades into evening when I think of this poem....it's about change and how nothing ever stays just the same...but that's a good thing for me. I've changed a lot through the years...evolved into the person that I am whether that is good or bad, it's just how it is.....

I hope you enjoyed the poem.

A beautiful day to drive

Saturday, we finished up at the State Fair and drove home....it was a beautiful day to be out driving...this view is thru the window of my truck....

It was an eventful week! I was am on the AATYC Board now (yeah!)....We went to the State Fair... The kids showing pigs for Calico Rock FFA didn't do too well...we did get a couple of ribbons but nothing in the top places. That's ok...it was an experience (that I'm glad is over).

I got new tires while I was in Little Rock...another yeah! They look really cool on my truck and should be great for a bad winter (not that I want one....but I'm hopefully prepared if it is).

Oh...and here's a couple of photos from the "fair" trip....

It amazes me still how impressed guys are with Hooters....

One more....It's really hard to get a photo of our little Kim... she's on the show team and she did the best this week...got 11th in her class in Commercial Gilts....

Plant Crazy Day

I went crazy on Saturday and bought a bunch of plants at an auction...I got a good deal on the ones I wanted, and then I bought the left overs for $3 for the hole lot...I ended up with about 12 plants....I only know what a few of them are...I got 2 Ficus trees, a tall cool cactus and a huge pot of Mother-in-laws tounges that I separated out into like 5 pots of nice looking sets and then have 2 pots of messy ones left over.......can you help me identify these please......

This one is very viney.

Long and viney....root in the top of the dirt, not running deep.

Appears to have potential purplish blooms on the way.

This is growing in 2 of the pots with other plants....is this a weed or a plant?

This one has thorns.

Is this an outside plant...some sort of tree?

Is this an outside plant....a shrub maybe?

Goat Tribute Day

This is Grey Goat. If you notice he has a little gray tint in his fur, but what really makes him stand out is the "eyeliner and mascara look". Isn't he an interesting looking guy. He was a pass through, so he's not here anymore, but didn't he look cool.

These ladies are Goldie, Meg and Cybil (right to left). George bought these 3 to be our nannies. They should have babies this fall. Meg is the mean one. She is just plain hateful. Goldie and Cybil are a little better. They just were not handled enough when they were young, so they don't come to be petted like the rest do. Meg and I have a mutual dislike going on.

No matter how much food you put out, they all try to eat from the same spot. They don't want anyone else to get something that they might be able to get. We have trough's now.... You can put food in the 1st trough and then go to the second and all the goats leave the 1st trough and follow you to the next one. We have three... once you get done putting food out, they jockey for position and chase each other away from their chosen spots. (These goats are Freckles and Grey Goat...the one in the middle is not a goat...that's Sadie the Great Pyranese/Anatollian Mix...our goat dog....the goats are helping Sadie eat her food....we have a couple that prefer the dog food to their sweet feed...might just be less competition...and apparently Sadie doesn't mind sharing).

This is Cybil again. I just liked the look on her face.

This is Mable. She should be a mommy very soon. She has gained 30 pounds in the last month and though her belly isn't all rounded out on the sides, it's getting much closer to the ground. She is very sweet natured. Her previous owners must have spent some time with her. She likes to pet us. She will rub her head on your leg or hand...but don't reach for here head...she doesn't like that and will walk away. You can pet her on the neck and back though....Mable is our first big nanny and she's my fav.

We have more goats, but I jus wanted to share some of my cool goat photos....maybe I can get some good shots of our newest babies with their Mom.... Aggie and her twins, Annie and Andy.

A Goofy Day

Never kiss by the garden gate, love is blind but the neighbors ain't......
(this could apply to my office hahahahaha.....)

Tulips in the garden, tulips in the park, the tulips I like best are the two lips in the dark.

When you get married and have twins, don't call me for safety pins.

When you get married and move across the lake, send me a piece of wedding cake.

These are rhymes that my Mom shared with me when I was in school...she said they used to write these rhymes in their yearbooks and memory books.
