Goats and caverns

Friday night, George brought 5 pygmie goats home with him...2 moms and 3 kids. They are so cute...you can see for yourself. I played with the 2 that go with the brown mom, but they didn't like me much....and when they cried, Goldie the horse, got all excited...she didn't like to hear them cry.

Here are some goaty photos.

On Saturday we (George, Russell, Ryan, Leah and myself) drove over to Blanchard Springs....The kids had never been, so since it was a dreary weather day, we went to the caverns. I got a couple of photos that were ok in the caverns but my camera just doesn't do well in that much darkness. I thought it was a nice tour and if you've never been, it's something interesting to see.

We drove on down to the spring to see it....I love that kind of running water creek.
Since we had someone with us, I made George have his photo made with me. He really looks pleased dosn't he.

It was cold and dreary but it was still a nice visit. We drove on into Mountain View and had lunch at Country Time Dining....then back thru Calioc Rock for some more sight seeing...we had to check out the boat ramp on the White River at Optimus.

Now we're just hanging out in the house....watching movies and goofing off....going to fry chicken for dinner since both Ryan and Russell are going to be here for dinner.

What to do....

Well, I'm sitting here thinking that I need something to do and I need to think of something to do this weekend....Tomorrow during the day, I have to go to Heber Springs for a meeting...Ryan and Leah are coming in on Friday night and I have no clue what we're doing this weekend....thougth about fishing but the weather isn't supposed to support that idea. Tonight I iced cupcakes for FFA Week...I didn't get fancy...just did some blue and some yellow for FFA colors.

This has been 2 weeks of hand injuries for me...I look like I've been in a fight...on top of the strained tendon and rope burns and the skinned nuckle that I already had, I cut a finger last night on a broken glass...it broke in my had and sliced right in.....ugh!

That time again

Project Graduation is coming around again....I attended a 2 hour meeting tonight that was so unorganized that we got about 30 minutes worth of actual work done.... oh well....
The Legends in Concert show is scheduled for March 21st. There is an auction as well.... Now, we have to gather donated items for the auction..... good luck to me.

I'm so not looking forward to gathering items but I will give it a shot.

Forward Ho!

I have only the best wishes to offer as Dr. J heads back home to Texas to a new college, a new life, and soon a new wife. I have truely enjoyed working with him and admire him a lot. I know the next college is very fortunate to be getting him as their leader. But, I will miss him. I spent a great deal of my time at work with him. We worked well together and our personalities went together quite well.

So, here's to you Dr. J....Salute....

All this sadness.... it has sort of surprsied me. I guess I was more attached than I thought I was. However, this is not the end of a friendship, but a separation through location....we will continue.

Now, we all move forward....we search for a new president, he begins a new presidency, Vernon has a new president... Forward Ho!

Not a happy week

This is it...the final days that Dr. Johnston is with us. He is moving to Vernon after the weekend....Yesterday was his last day at work and tonight is a little going away dinner for him. George is smoking brisket, salmon and turkey and we're having a pot luck at Tina's house.

It's getting colder outside...my horse is out roaming in the yard. George likes to let her out to eat the new grass that she loves so much. I'm not doing much of anything right now....I've got my laundry done and I really don't want to clean house, so I'm watching TV and goofing off.....come to think of it, I was going to spackle some nail holes in Nicole's room....so I can touch up before my new pictures get ready to hang....think I'll go do that.

It's a great day in my neighborhood

Guess what arrived in the mail today! Yep, you guessed it...my new Cole Haan pumps..man are they cute! Ha! But....what really got my attention was this......

It finally arrived...I say that like I've been waiting forever...but I just faxed the "mail it" request yesterday...and I got it today! My diploma....it doesn't seem real sometimes because it took me so long to get it done, but it's REAL!

Aahhhhh!

Not Broken

Ok, the finger isn't broken. I had to have some blood work done today so I had them xray the finger...not broken...yeah! All purple and hurts a lot...but not broken.

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Why me....

Exactly how many times do you think I can break my pinky finger? Well, it appears to be broken again...this time, I got it caught in a rope that I had stupidly attached to a crazy dog that has never been on a lead...she didn't like it and took off...I couldn't keep up with her, so when we got to the end of the rope, I didn't let go...at that point, it was my stupid temper that refused to let the dog win....this dog stretches out to be almost as tall as I am.......but when I got her stopped at the end of the rope, Russell got ahold of her and she went nuts again...I ended up trying to carry her to the pen...we made it but she had to walk some because her feet were touching the ground.

Now, to be extremely fair....this is the sweetest dog in the world...it was just a bad situation...and an accident....oh well... I'll live...and strangely enough, she still loves me just as much tonight as she did yesterday. That crazy Sadie.

My Love

He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me....yes, he loves me. Why? I don't really know...though he says he reasons...and he tells me what those reasons are.....I still often wonder why....

But....I'm just thankful that he does.

What's up....

It's an interesting week and it's only Wednesday:
  • A meeting on Monday night
  • Stormy weather brewing around the area
  • Birthdays....Nicole and Thomas
  • Had class
  • Finished the database that I've been working on...started using it today! It will force me to improve my query skills but will make the data entry a breeze!
  • Made some yummy Baked Chicken tonight
  • Have a Valentine's Day Culinary Arts Dinner tomorrow night (another YUM)
  • A Valentine's Day Coffee at work on Friday
  • Valentine's Day ...Saturday, George and I are making Chicken & Sausage Manicotti with a Fresh Tomato Salad

So that's what's up for me this week.

Another Birthday

Today is Nicole's 17th birthday.
I hope she has a great day and tons of celebrating! She sent me this photo from the Winter Ball. I must admit that I can't remember the boys name at the moment...they were not dating the last time she was here...so I haven't heard much about him yet.

Happy Birthday Nicole!

It's a Monday

Hello my blogging friends.... today was simply a Monday.
Not great, however, not awful.... I had work and a Project Graduation meeting at the school....it is raining and looking dreary but it's not freezing.

I keep thinking that I will come up with something to post that will just make my blog followers feel inspired today...but I think I'm fresh out of inspiring ideas....however, I will pass on something.....

Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
so dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Views, Guitars and Shoes

OK, I'm planning to be much better about my blog. I have been absent a lot lately....of course we had several days of no power and all that. But I will be better.

We went to Nashville this weekend to see the school that Russell wants to go to after graduation. When we got home, I was looking at my camera to see what photos were on the card and I found this one.... I saw the sun setting one evening during the ice storm and took a photo....it turned out ok...I think it looks pretty cool. I love those pink surises and sunsets.

While we were walking around the 400 block of Broadway in Nashville, I heard a "walking tour" guide say that this was the prettiest Guitar in Nashville, so I snapped this photo while we were walking across the street. I cropped all the people out of the photo once but decided I like it better like this....

If you know my husband, you know that he was under an extreme amount of torture this weekend as he HATES COUNTRY MUSIC.... while, I on the other hand quite enjoy it.....and we were in the Country Music Capital of the World.... I didn't torture him much...but I did want to go see some of the famous honkytonks...we did this early in the afternoon so I could see the scene and beat the big crowds....I really wasn't interested in hanging out in one, just seeing them.

The Opry Mills mall is huge....I spent several hours walking around in there but didn't buy anything...but...I did fall in love with a pair of Cole Hahn shoes.... probably going to regret not buying them...but dang, even on sale they cost more than I would normally pay...so I restrained myself....but man were they cute!

On another note, Tess, my wonderful beautiful black lab turned 4 on Saturday...she spent the weekend with my mom, dad, and brother while we were traveling....she celebrated with about a pound and a half of hotdogs. We can always count on Dad to feed her hotdogs...and Mom always makes sure there are some in the fridge when she is coming to visit.....did I mention that my dog is spoiled!

More birthday celebrations to follow this week...stay tuned....

Peace be with you!

My frozen world

A beautiful view on a frozen morning.....
After the ice accumulated the weight was more than our tress could stand..limbs, trees, power poles, etc snapped or were uprooted...leave a path of destruction and lots of "lumberjack work" for us all.

The pile of limbs under this set of trees grew before the ice began to melt. I really should have after photos to post now...no matter how bad you think these trees look, they look worse now...all thru the woods you can see the "fresh wounds" on the trees.

This photo does show some broken trees, but the view is so pretty...

This section of fence is at our driveway and I take a photo of it during every ice storm...just love this fence section.

I think I'm done talking about the ice. I'm so ready for my friends to get their power back on...it's been a week for some!

I've got the power

Well, I never knew how much I loved electricity!!! I'm rejoicing today becasue our power was restored this morning.....I'm so happy! I have storm photos to post...but I'm not ready to do that today...I posted some ice photos before it began to be a destructive force....I thought this storm was beautiful at first, but now that it's gone, the mess that was left in its wake leaves me almost speechless...almost ;-)

I'm just so glad to be able to communicate with people again and to post my boring blog and my tweets on twitter.....

More POWER to you all!
